Each Scout should have access to:

  • Suitable sleeping bag for weather conditions
  • Suitable size backpack
  • Ground cloth and pad
  • Rain suit or poncho (that fits)
  • Collapsible knife (no sheath knives or switch blades). Scout must have earned Tenderfoot Rank and Totin'Chip to carry a knife. Two and one half inch blade maximum (2.5"max.).
  • Flashlight (no gas lanterns)
  • Hiking boots (sneakers may not be worn for hiking)
  • Waterproof boots
  • Personal First Aid Kit, see boy scout handbook
  • Canteen or Plastic Water Bottle
  • Compass
  • Cup / Thermal Cup
  • Fork and Spoon
  • Deep Dish Plate (and empty margarine tub is fine)

It is suggested that before purchasing new equipment the leadership of the troop be contacted regarding recommended equipment. Equipment need not be official Boy Scout issue. Equipment can be purchased through the Troop at a discount from the L.L. Bean Company or Campmoor Company. If there are family financial difficulties, please contact the Scoutmaster.
